Notes: We came upon 4 gray wolves (puppies) milling about on the Norris to Canyon road about 1/4 mile east of the Virginia cascades entrance road intersection The wolves went into the tree line and out of site on the north side of the road. Shortly there was a long howling session with wolves out of site but coming from both sides of the road. Then for about 20 minutes or so, puppies and yearlings began crossing the road both ways individually and in groups. We then heard the wolves on the north side of the road farther west and we proceeded to the picnic area entrance and parked. The puppies soon appeared and began romping back and forth at the tree line to the road and back to the meadow. This activity lasted about 30 minutes.
