||Arriving here at 4:30 a.m., I heard wolves howling on both sides of the road. At around 6:30 a.m., I saw two wolves emerge from the forest northwest of me and walk to the narrow part of the Yellowstone River. This white-gray wolf swam across, then ran through the thin trees, up the hill to my right, and disappeared. Then a black wolf with white marks on its chest stopped at the edge of the river and howled several times. Finally it swam the river and followed the other wolf. In about 10 minutes, I saw 11 wolves greeting one another at the edge of the woods southwest of me.
