Yellowstone's wolf packs—Cinnabar Pack

Cinnabar became an official Park Pack in July 2016. 910M from 8 Mile joined a Montana collared wolf (gray female). Cinnabar had at least 3 black pups in 2016. Although we lack consistent sightings, 910M and the MT gray female are the suspected breeding pair and they are accompanied by another adult black wolf, and 3 black pups. In 2017, we have seen 5 gray pups in the Cinnabar Pack that appear to still be with the pack. 910M died in August 2018 from unknown causes, and the alpha female was legally harvested in the Montana season shortly after. We have not seen this pack recently and are unsure of its status. The current composition of Cinnabar is unknown. This has been a Montana pack from 2018 on. This pack likely still exists but is not closely monitored. [Updated 12/2019]

910MAlphaUnknownBlackMale12Uninfected20118 Mile Pack2018As a young adult this wolf was identifiable by the white tip at the end of his black tail. Although the white tip is gone, he is now identifiable by his radio-collar and white "beard". After spending much of 2014 apart from 8 Mile, he has rejoined the pack as alpha male until 2016, when he left for Cinnabar. He was believed to be alpha male of Cinnabar until he died in late summer 2018.
